Kareena Kapoor to play sex worker

Kareena to play a sex-worker in `Heera Mandi`Kareena Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will finally be working together on Sanjay's next film after Guzaarish. The two had been hoping to work together for a long time but their plans fell through every time. Once Kareena returns from shooting for Agent Vinod in Morocco, the two will meet and finalise their project together.

Kareena and Sanjay were supposed to work on a film on Mahatma Gandhi's son after Devdas, but circumstances forced Sanjay to shelve the film.

They then planned Bajirao Mastain with Salman Khan, but that had to be scrapped after Kareena and Salman's Kyon Ki flopped.

Then Sanjay got busy with Black and Kareena could not be a part of it as her sister Karisma and Black's male lead Amitabh Bachchan's son Abhishek had just broken their engagement. But now, it seems the two will finally get together.

Kareena did not agree to do 3 Idiots for Aamir

Kareena did not agree to do 3 Idiots for AamirDid you know why Kareena Kapoor agreed to do 3 Idiots without reading the script? No, it's not Aamir Khan. It was a decision to please her mother Babita, who is a Sindhi like film's director Rajkumar Hirani.

Hirani amusingly revealed Kareena’s reaction when he called her up to discuss the film. “When I called Kareena for 3 Idiots she got excited and immediately told me that she wants to do the film. She didn’t even read the script.

Kareena’s mother is Sindhi and after having watched ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ told her, `there’s one Sindhi director who makes good films, work with him.’ I told her, 'Please read the script before signing this film. Don’t do this film because I’ am Sindhi,” Hirani said.

The actress later read the script and was excited at the opportunity of working with Aamir Khan. “Yeah, she heard the script, loved the script and she cried too. Apart from that, she was happy that she was getting a chance to work with Aamir,” Hirani added.

Kareena Kapoor- Damn critics!

Kareena Kapoor- Damn critics!By Joginder Tuteja

Kambakkht Ishq arrived, got ripped apart by critics, made it's crores, enjoyed it's celebrations and is now being followed by the release of other big films like Love Aaj Kal and Kaminey. With the euphoria surrounding the release of the film dying down over last few weeks and an all around stability coming in, Kareena Kapoor comes out smiling.

"Whatever I have would have said earlier would have seemed as if I was defending the movie. But then that was never the case. Why would I have done that when box office was the biggest defender of all? Audiences came in dozens to watch the film and they made the movie a success.

Even though it may not be the quintessential super-duper blockbuster Bollywood hit but a very good success it certainly is and collections pretty much prove that", says Kareena who is now looking forward to the release of Saif Ali Khan's Love Aaj Kal which releases this Friday.

In retrospection, doesn't she feel surprised with the way media came down heavily on the film? Sighs Kareena, "But then isn't a film like Kambakkht Ishq an easy movie to criticize?

If one looks in the recent past, most Akshay (Kumar) films have seen a similar response from critics as well as box office. Look at Welcome or Singh Is Kinng; critics disliked them both but audiences had their own mind."

"Akshay is perhaps one of the only stars who has been party to such a consistent run with critics as well his audiences, both of whom seem to be on different sides of the fence", she smiles.

Even for Kareena, this is not the first time though that one of her films went on to become a big money spinner in spite of coming under the hammer. Last year, there was not a single critic who stood up to Rohit Shetty directed Golmaal Returns but the film made mega bucks after taking a thunderous initial.

"I guess by working in films like Omkara or Jab We Met and a Golmaal Returns or Kambakkht Ishq, I am striking just the right balance.

It's okay when critics do not like Kambakkht Ishq or Golmaal Returns; there are some films that are made purely for the audiences and they succeed there.

Critics may be having an individualistic opinion while audiences always come together with a collective verdict. It's a matter of choice at the end of the day, so it's all fine", she reasons.

Coming months should be indeed exciting for her as it would be there for all to see if critics as well as audiences warm up to her performance. Starting with Qurbaan, she would also be seen in Main Aur Mrs. Khanna as well as 3 Idiots.

Unlike Katrina, Kareena Kapoor will sizzle in Khadi

Unlike Katrina, Kareena Kapoor will sizzle in KhadiBy Subhash K Jha

For Kareena Kapoor playing a female politician for Sudhir Mishra’s Dhruv won’t be the same as Katrina playing the politician in Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti where the director has dressed her up in severe cotton and khadi to look the part.

But Sudhir feels the khadi-dressed politician is obsolete and also unwarranted. “That stereotypical look goes against the young dynamic honest and incorruptible image of the new Indian politician.

Kareena in Dhruv will be dressed how you’d expect a beautiful and glamorous people’s representative to be. Look at today’s young smart politicians. They wear what they’re comfortable in.”

Apparently the three generations of Gandhi women Indira, Sonia and Priyanka are being taken into sartorial consideration to model Kareena’s natty neta’s look.

Says Sudhir, “If you remember Kareena’s printed-sari look for Chameli was a craze. I feel Kareena’s politician’s look will also be a craze.”

Reacting to Pritish Nandy’s great sense of betrayal over the apparent translocation of the Devdas script from Pritish Nandy Communications to Excel Films Sudhir says, “All I’ll say is, Mr Nandy is like my elder brother. And if my brother is angry with me I apologize.”

Sudhir has offered to make another film for PNC is lieu of the Devdas project. “We’re yet to work out the details. But the offer is unconditional. Any time he wants me to I’ll make a film for him.”

Kareena plans to give a big surprise to her fans on Facebook

Kareena plans to give a big surprise to her fans on FacebookBy Subhash K Jha

Kareena has never been net savvy. But thanks to the clamour for her glamour on social-networking sites she has decided to get on the net. But just for a bit.

This week Kareena plans to give her fans on a hugely popular social-networking website (Facebook) a big surprise.

Medical Glossary
Kareena plans to get on the networking site for about 30 minutes “to say hello” to her fans.

She may even break her resolve not to become a member of the networking site. And who knows, she may even get over her reservations about starting her own website.

Says Kareena, “I’ve been repeatedly told that I’ve the maximum number of fans and well-wishers on Facebook. I could never find the time to connect with them. More importantly I was too shy. I can’t bring myself to answer over-specific questions on my activities, where I am, what I do, eat, etc.”
Real Estate Glossary
It was Saif Ali Khan and director Imtiaz Ali who informed Kareena of the massive fan following she has on Facebook and how imperative it was for her to reach out to those trying to reach out through social networking.

“I now realize it’s a whole large global community out there on the computer. I can’t blog about my life. But I need to understand and connect with the internet community.

In fact, reveals Kareena, “It was Saif who introduced me to the computer. He does practically all his work on the internet. He coaxed me into understanding the basics.

And then I got hooked, though not to social networking because I’m too private a person to share my day-to-day movements and activities even with my closest friends.”

It was Imtiaz Ali who pointed out the importance of reaching out on the social networking site.

“Imtiaz said the number of people on Facebook who put up my pictures and messages about me had to be seen to be believed. I’ll now be going on Facebook in a few days to interact with my friends there.”
Dental Glossary
Not that Kareena wants to be regular on social networking. “That’s not me. But I respect and love the thousands of people who want to reach out to me through the internet.”

Sylvester Stallone's humility shocks Kareena

Sylvester Stallone rescues damsel in distress Kareena Kapoor in typical Bollywood ishtyle in Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakkt Ishq. So Stallone is all set to make his "strong" presence felt in Hindi films.

Said a source, "When Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor saw stallone for the first time, they could not stop gaping at him. Stallone all of 60 was in great shape and could give apna heroes a run for thier money."

Akshay, who plays a stuntman and Kareena a supermodel could not stop talking about Stallone. "A rock solid body at 60 is something to die for, " said an Onlooker. Kareena was surprised to see that a star like Sylvester Stallone did not have any chaperones around him.

"He drove to the studio himself. Carried his food himself. He practically did everything himself. Sylvester Stallone was humility personified, " sources said.

Bebo-Saif:Khullam Khulla love

The Chote Nawab might allege that the media has a deliberate agenda against him and his arm candy Kareena, but you cannot blame them because Saif and Bebo seem to be the flavour of the season.

If the onlookers of Zee Cine Awards are to be believed, both Saif and Kareena were all over each other in London.

So much so, that there was no dearth of PDA. They could barely keep their hands off each other.

They even went as far as requesting the organizers to book them a hotel which was far away from the hotel where the rest of the guests were putting up.

Although their Tashan might have failed to sizzle on screen, but surely the off screen chemistry is piping hot and creating a lot of ripples.

I'm proud of my sculpted body

She's undisputably the number one actress in Bollywood. Kareena Kapoor is not only the highest paid but also the most in demand actress with her line up of prestigious releases starting with Yashraj's magnum opus Tashan, releasing this week.

Says a trade expert, "With Tashan, Kareena has established her clout in the industry. Even though the film hasn't done well, she still remains the number one actress in the country.

She has never looked so scorching hot before on screen and she has never been so good in a film! She positively sizzles. Even though the film hasn't done well, Kareena has made waves with her fiery performance and her ooh la la lime green bikini shot.

Bebo's never looked hotter. In fact the trade has given her a new nickname Czarina Kapoor as she positively rules the industry today."

Well, if King Khan is the 'Baazigar' among men, then the super-successful Kareena sure can be nick named Cazrina!

Name it and Kareena has it in her kitty, whether it is a list of A-grade projects under big banners, huge endorsements or modeling assignments, the actress is surely making it count when sun shines!!

And keeping her Numero Uno status intact is her next project with Aamir Khan no less! Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan are working together, and she's thrilled;

It's finally happening. Bollywood has put together the dream team of Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan for Rajkumar Hirani's film Idiots.

Kareena, who has signed on three big projects lately, including Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakht Ishq with Akshay Kumar, Renzel d'silva's untitled film with beau Saif Ali khan, is thrilled to be working with Aamir.

"It's a dream," she exclaimed, "we recently came close to working on two films together, Vishal Bhardwaj's Mr Mehta And Mrs Singh and Mani Ratnam's Lajjo, but it's finally happening now."

She is also looking forward to doing another film with Saif after Omkara and Tashan. "Renzil's film has a stunning script. " says she.

As for Tashan, she's worked really hard on the film and even lost weight to get the right look for Tashan.

Says Kareena" To be honest, I'm not a size zero. I'm sick of these reports claiming otherwise. I had to get this look for Tashan because the makers wanted me to get into character. Now I'm back to looking like before for my other films."

Weight no no weight, fact is that she's looking fab and feeling great. "I'm proud of my sculpted body. Why should I want to be like anyone else? I look no different from the way I looked earlier. I guess I'm just happy in life, and that shows," says Kareena.

Kareena in Different Role

Refugee (2000) .... Nazneen 'Naaz' Ahmed

A simple start to her career saw Kareena make a very natural debut as Naaz, a folksy young innocent all too eager to fall head over heels in love. Little did India know glamour would overwhelmingly, stunningly take over.

Asoka (2001) .... Kaurwaki

Move over Xena, this is how a Warrior Princess should really look. With arresting eye-makeup and more spunk wrapped around her than actual cloth, Kareena's Kaurwaki is the stuff of dreams.

Mujse Dosti Karoge (2002) .... Tina Kapoor

It was complete comfort-zone, this film. Bebo played the sporty and urban young Tina and seemed completely in character, right down to her sneakers.

Chameli (2003) .... Chameli

Bollywood often reduces women of the night to caricature, but this fabulist film about a night in the life of a streetwalker saw Kareena at her gaudiest -- while also looking utterly irresistible. It's a stretch but she sure pulled it offThe role called for minimal make-up and absolute naturalism, but Kareena was playing a club-savvy urban girl, and her oft-wet locks worked really well for us, as did her white tees and jeans.

Yuva (2004) .... Neha Verma

A riveting blend of social message and entertainment is what "Yuva" was all about and Kareena opted for a without-makeup college going bubbly girl image.

Vivek Oberoi and Kareena look good together and attracted lots of appreciation among teenage lovers.

Kyon Ki... (2005) .... Dr. Tanvi Khurana

If real-life medicos looked anywhere near this hot, clinics would be the town's most-happening places. Kareena opted for -- by her extreme standards -- an understated look this time around.

36 China Town (2006) .... Priya

Upen Patel might have gotten the hit Himesh Reshammiya A-A-Aashiqui song but Bebo looked unbelievably voluptuous throughout this ridiculous film.

Jab We Met (2007) .... Geet Dhillon

The spunky thing wore her Lucknow churidars with T-shirts and carried off everything, from Bollywood to bohemian, with casual ease -- and full-on college gal flair -- in her best performance yet.

Tashan (2008) .... Pooja Singh

The pants are hot, the skirts are super-short, and nothing quite spells out the best thing about summer like Bebo's Tashan wardrobe. Talk about sizzling.

Yash Raj Films has lost it now

The boom time for the Mumbai film industry is not translating into windfalls for top Bollywood production house Yash Raj Films (YRF), with its first offering of 2008, "Tashan", failing to live up to the hype.

While in 2007, YRF's tally of flops outweighed that of hits, their first release this year has failed to charm critics and the audience response to "Tashan" has not been too heartening.

Though heavy on formula and style, the film starring the reigning star of the box-office, Akshay Kumar, and media's favourite star couple, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, has no story to tell. Seems that writer-director Vijay Krishna Acharya was so busy packaging egos that he forgot what he wanted to say in "Tashan".

The fact that "Tashan" did not release in several multiplexes due to a long-standing tiff with cinema hall owners over sharing of revenues has been a major dampener. The country's top production house has been trying to get multiplex owners to agree on a new revenue sharing formula.

Their offer of keeping 55 percent of the box-office collections in the first week was rejected by exhibitors.

According to news reports, the first day's collection of "Tashan", which opened only in single-screen theatres on Friday, stood at 70 percent to 80 percent in Mumbai. Given that the film has not met expectations of both critics as well as audiences, the collections are likely to dip in the days ahead.

Its releasing in single-screen theatres is economically less profitable as fewer number of shows can be screened each day and the cost of tickets is much lower than in multiplexes.

Trade weekly said the film had a 70 percent start, but there were reports of business sliding downwards as day progressed. The reports are negative and the biggie is not likely to sustain in the days to come, according to trade analyst.

For YRF, the third highest spender in Bollywood at the moment after Reliance Entertainment and Indian Films, the fate of "Tashan" will serve as a cautioner.

The illustrious production house will be pumping in Rs.3.5 billion over the next 15 months into the industry and cannot afford to leave their audiences feeling unsatisfied.

Reliance Entertainment and Indian Films, which will be investing Rs.5 billion and Rs.4.4 billion in the industry over the next year-and-a-half respectively, are the biggest moneybags of the industry at the moment.

But among the seasoned banners, it is YRF that leads the pack. They have both the talents as well as enjoy faith of the audiences.

The Rs.120 billion strong Mumbai-based Hindi film industry is inundated with public and private investment. Entry of corporate bigwigs has shaken up traditional production houses.

This year, YRF, is releasing as many as five films across genres - thriller, comedy, romance and animation, starring some of the top actors and directors. Though the number is small in comparison to other banners, the banner is not known to churn out so many in a single year.

Known as the czars of Bollywood, YRF have been going through a bad patch ever since the average performance of "Ta Ra Rum Pum" and debacle of mega-starrer "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" last year.

Though they tried to do things differently by taking up women-oriented scripts, they could not make things work in other releases of last year -- "Laaga Chunari Mein Daag" and "Aaja Nach Le". The only saving grace was "Chak De! India".

The lesson that content is king is still to get embedded in the core of filmmaking in India. But with production houses like UTV Motion Pictures planning to roll out 18-20 films this year and the Indian Film Company readying 12-13 films, it is a lesson that needs to be internalised at the earliest.

UTV, Indian Films and YRF will produce some of the most awaited releases of the year like Aditya Chopra's "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" starring Shah Rukh Khan, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra's "Dilli 6", Akshay Kumar starrer "Singh is Kinng", which is being directed by Anees Bazmee, and "Ghajini", which has Aamir Khan in the main lead.

Bebo-Shahid meet again after split!!!

Remember Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack in Serendipity meeting at Bloomingdale's over the Christmas shopping, getting attracted to one another though they are attached elsewhere? They make a promise to meet if they are destined to.

Peter Chelsom's Serendipity now has a desi avatar.

Boney Kapoor's Milenge Milenge in the making for almost two years now is getting ready for release.

Ironically the film stars the once-lovers Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. And since their first post-split film Jab We Met was such a whammer at the boxoffice, Boney of course wants to cash in on Milenge Milenge as the last film to feature the Jab We Met jodi.

For almost six months the producer has been chasing his dream pair.

But now the wait is over. After months of dillydallying Shahid and Kareena are dubbing for the film.

Says the director Satish Kaushik, "Shahid who's my neighbour has already started dubbing for the film.Kareena will dub as soon as she returns from abroad. Yes, the film does have elements of Serendipity."

The title Milenge Milenge suggests a touch of afterlife.

"No no. Milenge Milenge has got nothing to do with reincarnation. One film on that theme (Karzzz) is more than enough."

Kareena's secret diet revealed

There have been enough speculation on Kareena Kapoor's crash dieting and enough stories about her fainting on the sets. All these rumours are just that – rumours.

Kareena's Nutritionist and Dietician, Rujuta Diwekar, has revealed the true story of the actor's diet and eating habits. Kareena met Diwekar in May 2007, and the latter has been the actor's dietician since then.

Apparently, Kareena gave Diwekar a brief about her character – that she had to be lean and sexy.

Diwekar knew that Kareena is a pure vegetarian, and wondered if she could lose the required amount of weight by going on a vegetarian diet. She put the actor on a diet that consisted of healthy nutritious food.

Kareena has been eating parathas, momos, cheese, pasta, bananas and other food that are perceived as fattening.

"Contrary to reports in the media, Kareena did not starve herself, and neither did she subsist only on orange juice. There were also stories that she fainted on the sets, but that is not true," says Diwekar.

"What worried Kareena was that her fans, especially teenage girls who look up to her as their icon, will blindly follow the false articles and emulate her.

The results can harm them in some way or the other. Kareena did not want that to happen, and thus this clarification," he adds.

According to Diwekar, the actor wants her fans to know that she has achieved her super sexy body, over a period of time, by being dedicated and disciplined about her fitness and eating habits.

"She is massively into a strict regime of yoga, which she practices for almost two hours a day. She loves the way she is looking now, just like a Hollywood star," Diwekar concludes.

Deepika-Bebo SRK's new item

SRK's Billoo Barber is going to be one hot affair. We hear that King Khan is planning to rope in both Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone to do an item song together.

The movie, directed by Priyadarshan, has SRK playing a filmstar and Irrfan Khan playing a barber from village. The story is apparently inspired from the legend of Krishna-Sudama friendship.

Says a source, “Though Kareena and Shah Rukh haven’t done any films together; after Asoka and Don, their chemistry has been sizzling.

So when Shah Rukh, who plays a superstar in Billoo Barber, asked her to perform to a song with him, she agreed. Kareena is keeping dates aside and will soon be shooting for the song by next week.

‘Billoo Barber’ also had Amisha Patel playing Irrfan Khan’s wife, but the actress recently bowed out of the project because she presumably did not find her role substantial.

Kareena to Priyanka: Friends?

It looks like sanity is finally restored between the two gorgeous ladies in tinsel town, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra!

The cat and mouse battle that kicked off after the release of Aitraaz wherein Priyanka walked away with the cake in terms of role and appreciation got never-ending as the tussle blew up to a bigger proportion at a live concert, when Kareena snubbed Priyanka back stage.

Well, this was not the end to it, as Kareena opened up that Priyanka was not an actress at all!

Now it looks like Yoga and being in love all over again, has mellowed down the otherwise haughty Kareena and she seems to have forgotten the past and has even allowed her present love, Saif Ali Khan to be paired with Priyanka in Farhan Akhtar's next film titled 'Voice from the Sky'.

Surely looks like a voice from the sky echoed into Kareena's ears calling for 'Peace'!!

Kareena to get hot with Shahrukh

Sexy diva Kareena Kapoor is going to be hot with Shahrukh Khan as she has signed a hot item number with him in his forthcoming film, Billoo Barber.

King Khan will be seen getting cozy not only with Kareena Kapoor but with sensational Deepika Padukone also. Both of the gals have been signed by Red Chillies Entertainment. Bebo played the leading lady of Shahrukh in Asoka and after a long gap she will be seen again opposite him. With this song, Deepika will make her debut in item numbers.

Billoo Barber is a story of two friends, one is rich and the other is poor. They drifted apart in their school days and reunited after long years. Shahrukh plays the role of a rich man and Irrfan Khan plays the role of the poor man. Amisha Patel will play Irrfan’s love interest. The film will be directed by Priyadarshan. Billoo Barber is an adaptation of the story of the Krishna-Sudama friendship and is said to be a remake of the superhit Malayalam film Kadha Parayaumbol.

I'm not wearing any Bikini: Bebo

Though Kareena Kapoor is looking scorching hot in Tashan, you won't able to catch her her in bikini as reported earlier by many tabloids.

Says a souce from Yash Raj, "No doubt Kareena will look hot in shorts too. The running promos have already proved that Kareena in her new make over is looking stunning."

In her recent interview, Kareena too remarked on her bikini scene that she is not wearing any sexy attire in 'Tashan' and it is just a rumor. Though she agreed that her role is extremely glamorous as it was a requirement of her character.

She also added that her look will be a new trend for onscreen glam divas. So was that hyped scene another Yashraj promotional strategy?

It seems so as Tashan is cashing big time on Kareena’s bikini scene which may or may not be there in the film.
